So any guesses on who's going to be on Game 4? I'm thinking Dick Bavetta, Eddie F. Rush and Joe DeRosa.

I would've said Jess Kersey instead of DeRosa, but both he and Bavetta are a little older and I don't know if the league would put both together on a Finals game like they did several times during the season.

BktBallRef Wed Jun 15, 2005 07:20am

I was also thinking that we haven't seen Joe yet.

Game 1
Ron Garrettson
Mike Callahan
Steve Javie

Game 2
Danny Crawford
Bernie Fryar
Jack Nies

Game 3
Bob Delaney
Joe Crawford
Bennett Salvatore

We haven't seen
Eddie Rush
Joe DeRosa
Dick Bavetta
Mike Mathis
Jim Clark
Jess Kersey
Ken Maurer
Derrick Stafford
Greg Willard

I'm thinking this thing will go 7, so it'll be interesting to see how it breaks down. Will anyone work more than one game?

refTN Wed Jun 15, 2005 01:57pm

I know for certain that Joe DeRosa will be reffing game 4 and I am 95% sure Eddie F. Rush will be there is well

 We haven't seen Padge yet either!!

I would say for game 4 would Rush, DeRosa, Forte'. However, it would not surprise of Ken Mauer was there as well.

Nope.

And we won't. :)

JugglingReferee Wed Jun 15, 2005 02:50pm

Mike Mathis????

I liked him as an official, but I thought he wasn't around anymore.

(By around, I mean presently on staff. IIRC, he is round. :D)

The better get Dick there, just for the sake of the National Anthem.

Hi RefTN,

How do you know for certain that these guys will be on the game? I was just making an educated guess.

Hi RefTN,

My guess is that he's been to camp.

And you're right Jug, Mathis isn't around anymore.

I have a mentor who is good friends with Joe Derosa and he told me Joe was working game 4

next finals crew

Good guesses on game 4 crew. I thought I heard on ABC (not sure if that is correct) that there were going to be twelve officials working the finals, meaning some officials will work two games (maybe one in SA and one in Det). And the choice of Eddie Rush, Dick Bavetta and Joe DeRosa sounds like a good one to me.

BktBallRef Thu Jun 16, 2005 07:39am

I wouldn't think that you would hear something like that on ABC or on any other TV report. Leagues hold these types of cards very close to their chest.

canuckrefguy Thu Jun 16, 2005 04:01pm

I remember hearing it too - during a break in one of the conference finals games, ABC's sideline reporter did a quick rundown on the crew working the game (Joe C, Bavetta, and Rush - game seven?), and also included details on how many officials worked the conference finals, and how many will work the finals.

I'm not saying that you guys are wrong but I can't possibly imagine the NBA releasing that type of information.

Suppose they did and suppose a gambler believes Larry Browns stats are true, that could change the betting line. :)

They never mentioned specific names, or who was working which game, but did say that a certain number of people would be assigned games in the finals.

Either the NBA released the info, or ABC made it up.

BktBallRef Thu Jun 16, 2005 08:11pm

Canuck, you wrote, " ...(Joe C, Bavetta, and Rush - game seven?), ..." That made it sound like you thought that's who she said would work Game 7.

Chris is correct. One of the biggest reasons these things are kept secret is gambling. Who's offiicating the game can have an impact on the betting line.

This was the sideline report DURING game seven.

Again, I NEVER said they stated who would be working what games - just the number (12) that would be assigned to the finals. You said it didn't happen. I say it did.

I can totally see why they wouldn't release it before the game - and I never said they did that.

Me thinks a wee bit of a misinterpretation or misunderstanding at work here....:)

BTW, tonight it's Bavetta, Rush, and Derosa.

BTW,

Rush
Bavetta
DeRosa

Dribble Thu Jun 16, 2005 08:44pm

I should get into the gambling business! :D

BktBallRef Thu Jun 16, 2005 09:00pm

Kudos to Dribble!

Tell him what he's won, Chuck! :)

Dribble Thu Jun 16, 2005 09:12pm

I'll take a hug and kiss from Chuck, or tickets to a possible Game 7. No exchanges or refunds will be accepted.

Josh Tiven Tue Jun 21, 2005 08:48pm

changed my mind

Actually, i agree with a posting from earlier...game 7 will be Bavetta, Eddie F, and Joe Crawford.... that makes sense

ChuckElias Wed Jun 22, 2005 10:27am

HEY!! Josh, cool to see you here. Glad you found this place. Drop me a line about your camp plans, and how your D2 schedule went.

So ABC did report it right...Joey Crawford, Dick Bavetta and Eddie F. Rush on Game 7...
