This rule change is from April 1936.

Speaking of basketball history, does anybody have a general idea when girls high school rules changed from six girls on the court to five with a "rover"? Or when high school girls started playing with all five girls allowed anywhere on the court?

Are you sure it wasn't from earlier than 1936? 1936 was the year the center jump following every basket was eliminated.

I know this because Jurassic and I worked the first game under the new rule. We were both entering the twilights of our careers then.

Oh yeah - whistles were made out of wood then. Plastic hadn't been invented yet. Lanyards were hemp, which made for some pretty interesting calls late in the game (if you know what I mean). ;)

Where's your partner?

Oh, out smoking his lanyard.

I believe girls went to 5 man (ha!) in 1972. If that's not hard enough to believe, it took Iowa about eleven more years (or something like that) to make the switch.
