I was doing a grade 8 boys middle school game.

I was standing right infront of the crowd when I felt a pressure on my cheek.

Not my face cheek...

It turns out one of the fans decided to pinch my behind.

The look on my face must've been priceless.

I was so shocked I didn't know what to do.

It was too bad she was at least 5 years younger than me.

It was a shocker. :D

What's wrong with 5 years younger?

Nothing if you are 25 but think a second.

Unfortunately, in Canada, though the laws are on the books, the penalties never seem to be that harsh.

In this case, 13 would likely get you 10 - which would mean you could be out after 6 1/2 with good behaviour.

I'm very central-left-thinking when it comes to crime and punishment, but some aspects of our judicial system are a friggin joke.

BTW, I know how ref18 feels....except in my case it was my girlfriend who did the pinching....right in front of the cheerleading squad she was coaching!

Isn't that crowd interference??

PAOfficial Fri Apr 08, 2005 06:43am

You should've blown the whistle, turned around, bird-dogged her, and called the hand check.

Nah, I think posting that story 100 times is probably enough. :)

Maybe you had some lint on your pocket. Either that or she picked your pocket. You aren't one of those guys who keeps your wallet in you back pocket when your reffin are you?

Hey, when life give you lemons, make some lemonaide.....if you were to go to jail, maybe you could be placed in charge of the referee training program. ??

In my part of the world we call that a HAM check!

I would have called a hold, but done more like NCAA where they are loose with mechanics so they can describe what happened when reporting.

Just remember vertical stripes are the refs, horizontal stripes the players.

A couple of years ago I was doing an 8th grade tourney, and just before administering a free throw, while the crowd was quiet, this little girl yelled out in a sing-song voice, "Boo-ger!!" Damn near threw the ball off the free throw shooter's head!
