More as
"Tell me the rules".
I was never really into Basketball... my brother watched it alot, though. I knew about Michael Jordan and all that, but that'sit.

A few days ago I couldn't find anything on TV to watch, exept a BBall game, Bulls vs. Forgots. It was the one before they fought Miami.

I loved it. The Chicago Bulls are the only team I really know about... and I don't know whos on it, either. And I don't know ANY of the terms.
It's a shame the past two games I couldn't watch because of limits...
Could someone help me with the terms and rules of Basketball? It's greatly appreciated.

Well there's probably a website which I'm sure someone will come along and post full of terms and what not. If yo have specific questions or specific terms that you need answered then please ask those specifically and we can answer.

Welcome to the board...

If you really are interested and have the time to read, you can start with this link

http://www.ncaa.org/library/rules/20...ball_rules.pdf

This is the NCAA (college) rules. There are differences for High School (NFHS)(not a ton but some) but there is no where on line to access these.

As far as the NBA, here is a link to their rules

http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_index.html

Remeber though that the NBA exists for entertainment purposes and you will see many instances where the stars get away with things that would never fly in High School or NCAA.

Also, read as much as you can on here and feel free to ask questions. Before you know it, you may even be reffing ;-)

Thanks! Very, very much. :) I'm glad there's at least a LOT of people here, not like other places... :/

Thanks again!

And here I thought from the thread title that Billy Packer himself was posting here!

Read any of the Billy Packer threads (except the one about the Home Owners Association) and you'll know exactly what that means.

I always love the beginning of the NFHS rulebook. It starts with a very simple summary:

"Basketball is played by two teams of five players each. The purpose of each team is to throw the ball into its own basket and to prevent the other team from scoring. The ball may be thrown, batted, rolled or dribbled in any direction, subject to restrictions laid down in the following rules."

Then poof, it goes into 50 pages or so of little restrictions that people have added over the years to cover each individual thing that can happen on the basketball court. :D
