I caught the ending of it, can someone please explain what happened?
|
Michigan State made a basket and a foul was called underneath while the ball was in flight (good call by the way). One of the Michigan State players was awarded a one and one. After he made the first, the official checked the monitor to see who was fouled. He correctly determined the wrong player shot the free throw. The point was taken off the board and the correct player shot the one and one.

State doing a good job on the boards Carolina's gotta get after the hustle points and not put the Spartans in the bonus so early. If they make 3 or 4 of those layups they miss, they'd be leading.

If the first free throw had been missed on this play, at what point must the error have caught and the whistle blown to correct it? (In other words, what result the first free throw had missed resulting in (a) defensive rebound, (b) offensive rebound, (c) offensive tip in?)
What if the first free throw had failed to make contact with the rim? |

That was the first time I have seen a correctable error on tv on the college level.
