In Vermont,we receive $45 varsity & $30 for J.V & Middle School. I am conducting my own survey and would be interested to know the pay received in any other area of the U.S - Varsity - Junior Varsity - Middle School. If anyone could supply me with this information it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I VA we get $65 for AAA and $55 AA Varsity and below . On the JV side it $35.
|
Nevada: per official
$45 Varsity 3-man, $55 V 2-man $40 for Frosh or JV which is 2-man $21 for each middle school game (done in as double headers so $42) plus travel |
I graduated from St Michael's, Winooski, VT. in 19...errr..never mind. Houston, Texas: Varsity 3-person...average is probably around $65 per game plus mileage. Sub-Varsity 2 games is $54, includes mileage. Middle school 2 games is $54, 3 games $69, includes mileage. Rumor has it, the rates will be raised for 2005-2006, about $5 per game. Referee magazine about 5 or 6 months ago had a national survey for basketball, football, etc.

Washington State:
Varsity 4A/3A/2A $48.00 for 2-person plus mileage *** $33.00 for 3-person (3-year trial period) Varsity A/B (2 person) $44.00 plus mileage JV/C/Soph/Frosh (2 person) $34.00 plus mileage Z |
Connecticut
Sub Varsity - $47. Varsity - $62 |
Missouri
V 3-man $54. More and more conferences are leaning towards 3-man. V 2-man $58. V/JV double header $86-89. F or JV $40. F/JV double header $66. MS varies, usually $20-30. per. No additional $ for mileage in my area. We're supposed to go up a few $ in the next year or 2. |
This question is asked about once a month. Do a little searching and you'll find numerous threads on the issue.

Thanks. |
I would like to know that too. I have been hearing rumors, but nothing as fact!

Okla- independent contracts...depends on what each school pays. If you aren't willing to work for that, you don't contract their games (we don't have assignors except in the metro areas). 2 man, and you do both the girls and boys varsity game, you make between 85 and 110. Jr hi, 25 per game.
NCAA- depends on the conference, and whether men's or women's. Travel is paid by most conferences, and some have per diem. NBA- salaried, of course, and I think it starts in the mid $70,000 range. |
I heard Dave Libbey say about a year ago that Pac-10 officials make $850/game and $1050 for the conference tournament. Don't know if there is a per diem or travel on top of that, though.
Where I am in VA it is $45 for 3-man varsity, and $35 for 3-man JV. I haven't worked middle school in a while, so I don't remember what it pays, but probably like $25 or $30 for two-man. We almost always work JV/Varsity double-headers. We also get paid for travel on top of the game fee, depending on how far away the game is. |
In Indiana
It depends...
HS Varsity...$50-$80...(2-man or 3-man) HS JV...$40-$55 HS Frosh...?? NCAA HCAC...$125 NCAA ORCC...$75-$85 |

Now why would you hope that? To put it in perspective, my school taxes (not property taxes) are $ 6500 per year. Add in property taxes and the yearly bill is $ 12,000. I may as well get some of it back! The rate is for each official! |
DBL and IREF,
Where we are in VA, we started the JV/V 3-man double-header when the state put boys and girls in the same season. Before that, I heard that they had a different crew for each game. I forgot how nice is was to only do one game until I did some playoff games. It made me realize that JV/V double-headers can be quite a chore some nights, especially when some varsity coaches spend half their time watching the JV game and stewing over the officials. The real problem is that we just don't have enough officials to cover all the games with two different crews. |
Omaha, Nebraska area
Varsity-$65 per game for Metro Conference (the big school conference here in the Omaha metro area), varies for others. I heard one person got $85 for a varsity game at a smaller school outside of the metro. All is 2-whistle, though Metro Conference is talking of going to 3-whistle in near future. I've gotten $40-50 per game for the smaller classes here in the metro area. Subvarsity (JV, Soph, Reserves, Frosh)-Metro Conference is $35 per game, so doubleheaders are $70. Varies for others. The range I've seen has been $25-35 for smaller schools. Middle school-Varies greatly! Omaha Public Schools middle school league paid $35 for a doubleheader, $27 if it was a single game (haven't figured that one out yet!). I've received anywhere from $15-25 per game for middle school ball. |
Updated information! I deleted old post.
In New Hampshire for 2004-2005. V 2-person $70 V 3-person $55 JV $50 MS determined by individual schools, but is usually either $30 or $35 per game. This is the first year of a three-year deal. The stipends were increased substantially for 2004-2005, but we are no longer reimbursed for mileage. The high school fees will increase two dollars per year for each of the next two years. |

The rates, approx. in SC. It gets confusing with the travel, but these are basically the rates without any travel.
HS-Varsity (3 man) $57 + milage (for 2 games, both B&G!!) Sub-Varsity (2 man) $33 + milage (again, 2 games!!) Note, this is not the fee per game, but BOTH games! Here, you are expected to do 2 Varsity or JV games on one night. Varsity plays one night and sub-Varsity the other. So, you do two games for basically the price of one. Comming from Mass. it was quite a shock! goose |
