I received the last of my packages today. When I add all the shipping charges by the USPS, it amounts to $70US. I was only charged $50. Everything arrived in a timely manner, and good quality. In the end they didn't screw me :)

Just a side note, anyone who ordered their pants, did you get a Cliff Keen brand pant, or an Officials Choice brand pant?

drothamel Mon Mar 21, 2005 06:23pm

I have pants from Honigs and from OC, I like the OC much better. The OC fabric is a bit different, more lightweight and breathable. I will say that if you wash your pants yourself, MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT PUT YOUR OC PANTS IN THE DRYER. They will shrink. And let me start now by fending off those who think it was my gut expanding and not the pants shrinking.

No one was going to say anything about just your gut. We were going to "call it both ways". ;)

I too have a pair of Honings pants, and I agree, the ones I got from the OC are much nicer than the Honigs ones.

For diamonds and harwood, if I can't wash it together and dry it together, I will not wear it together.

Like I said I got my order from them in about 5 days. I got two micro-softer shirts. As I've said I've got to wait until next season to try them out or maybe if I get lucky some summer camps. Anyways, overall, no problems with the order, however I still say their shipping isn't the greatest! :)

I don't want to start a new thread on this, but I'm wondering: on TV this year, I've seen a lot of basketball officials with shirts that have a pronounced black area on each side from the armpit to the waist. Is that an OC shirt, or if not, who makes it?

Just wondering as none of the shirts I ever had had that.

This has already been discussed, try searching it.

I have two pairs of the OC pleated pants and they are a bit lighter than my pair of Sansabelts - but they also seem to show wear and tear more quickly. They are nice pants, though....don't regret buying them at all.

Why would you want this shirt unless you're working NCAA?

If you are working NCAA, I'm sure they would have provided you the vendor to purchase them from!

So, you're satified with paying $70 in shipping!?!?

You've got a helluva lot more money than I do! :(

Uh, yeah!!!
No house.
No kids in college.
No kids at home.
No health insurance premium.
No property taxes.
No water bill.
No gas bill.
No electric bill.

ref18 Mon Mar 21, 2005 09:42pm

I only paid $50 shipping, according to the slips of paper from the USPS, the Officials Choice payed $70 shipping.

Remember, shipping global priority mail to Canada isn't too cheap.

Edit: Another thing, me and my dad split the shipping bill as half the order was for him. It's cheaper to order stuff like this with other officials.

I think the real point is that he lives in Canada, so the USPS is gonna charge an arm and a leg to ship there. I don't think he has a lot of options other than to pay $50.

BktBallRef Mon Mar 21, 2005 10:04pm

ref18, they didn't pay $70. Don't believe that for a second.

PS - What's you "zip" code?

I have a couple of pairs of OC pants that I like.

From the bag to the wash to the dryer back to the bag. No problems so far.

I went onto the USPS site, and put in the wieghts, the type of service and my information, and the quote I got was what the USPS put on the boxes.

>>Why would you want this shirt unless you're working NCAA?<<

I don't work basketball anymore. I was curious, as I check out official's gear sites for things other than basketball officiating uniforms.

Incidentally, for the "helpful" individual that suggested a search, may I suggest you click on "search" at the top and see what happens. Then you'll know the problem with that.

canuckrefguy Mon Mar 21, 2005 10:36pm

The shipping on my OC patent leather shoes (which were too small) was about $17 (US, I assume) - sending them back cost me about $25CDN for priority ground transport. But that's one pair of shoes and shoe bags - if you order more, I imagine the costs go up - and if you ship air mail and/or courier to Canada, it gets REAL pricey.

Up here, we're limited pretty much to Honigs, or other smaller sporting goods companies that choose to carry limited supplies of reffing gear. If you don't hit Honig's at the right time, they run out of stuff, and you're S.O.L., so sometimes, we have to resort to getting stuff from the U.S.

Apparently, OC is trying to get someone in Canada to join them - any takers? Not me....

imaref Mon Mar 21, 2005 10:47pm

I wonder if rates fluctuate dependent on how you place your order with OfficialsChoice? If you call your order in, is it the same rate as opposed to ordering online?

I know my last order for a pair of shoes and a shirt was calculated with a higher shipping charge and charged to my credit card. While all the discussion about the postage gouging....I went back to the OC website, and sure enough, noticed that they had re-adjusted their postage rates lower. No change occurred on my invoice nor any adjustment made to my credit account. Within a day, the rates went up again. I'm not aware that US Postal rates change day-to-day or hour-to-hour.

I've been willing to promote and give OfficialsChoice the benefit of the doubt....but it seems like everytime they take a positive step forward....they then take three steps backwards ruining any confidence you could have in their business.

I feel bad....because for the most part, I believe many of their products are TOP NOTCH ! Patent leather shoes, MicroSofter Shirts (B&W/Gray) and their slacks!

I hope they can get their act together sooner than later.

Texas,

Just trying to help, however that function is shut off because it eats bandwidth up. Therefore, to do a search, go to Google (or your favorite search site) and search from there.

Being an employee of the USPS I can assure you it nearly takes an act of congress to change rates. ;-)

Get this, I work for the USPS, married, have three kids and my hobby is officiating.
Does it seem to you I might be into abuse? I must be a candidate for therapy or something?!?

Yeah, on the search engine that doesn't work...

That's a shirt that was worn by officials in the ACC this year, I believe.

We're all aware that the certain feature on THIS site doesn't work. But you can still use Google to search THIS site only.

ref18 Tue Mar 22, 2005 08:39pm

From what I've heard, Cliff Keen makes them and they run for $45 each. Do a google search on this site, and you should find it.
