B1 is removed from the game after a good free throw. B6 replaces B1. The clock reads 2:16. A1 passes in to A2, who is immediately fouled, so quickly in fact, that the clock still reads 2:16. (Now realize that since we don't have tenths on the clock at this time, the real time could have gone from 2:16.9 to 2:16.1 here) Can B1 sub in for B6? "No time" has come off the clock...

We discussed this at length a few weeks ago (along with some other big arguments over timing rules and correctability).

If the timer actually started the clock, then stopped it - general agreement was that the clock did run (even if the display doesn't show it), let the sub in.

The confusion came with what happened when the timer *should* have started the clock, but didn't. I think that the rule is poorly worded, and in that case the sub would not be allowed.
