Team A is down by 2 with 4.5 on the clock in the 4th. A1 inbounding the ball at midcourt. A1 inbounds the ball to A2 who is set in the corner for a 3. A2 released the ball before time expires. The ball goes through the rim from above, strikes the net and the net breaks holding the ball against it and the rim as time expires.

Team A is going crazy. After several seconds, the ball is still stuck.

Your call is...?

It's a good three point goal and the game is over.

Rule 5 Scoring and Timing Regulations
SECTION 1 GOAL
ART. 1 . . . A goal is made when a live ball enters the basket from above and remains in or passes through. No goal is scored if an untouched throw-in goes through the basket.

Does the title of your thread allude to the net being stitched improperly? And is "bored" a reference to "board", which the ball didn't hit?

I'm confused (which is usually my normal state).

I think his title referred to being bored, so he dreamed this one up. Interesting question, but everybody knows that to generate any really interesting discussion, it's got to happen with 2.8 seconds on the clock. With 2.8 seconds, then you're looking at a possible do over. :D

Ya, but if it happens with 1.0 seconds, and the other coach quickly calls timeout while the ball is still stuck in the hoop, and then the timer erroneously lets the clock run down to 0.0, are we putting time back on the clock? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Depends on whether Rick Hartzell thinks putting time back on the clock will help or hurt the East Bumfluck Half Empty Spit Buckets, who are competing with his employer's team for the last tourney spot. :)

Also, whether there's a Watery Tart with a Sword on the bench.
