Georgia Tech vs. Va. Tech......
Loose ball near midcourt line in Ga. Tech's frontcourt. GT player gets control of loose ball, and then one foot comes down in the backcourt. Violation called. Billy Packer, in his never ending wisdom says, "The official missed that one. The ball never went into the backcourt". And the networks continue to hire him......... |
A total and complete IDIOT.

In the immortal words of Tom Arnold:
"I hate that guy!!" AAR |
Boy, you're right there - Packer fans ARE idiots!
Oops, wrong forum. :p |

You'd think after all these years the guy would have the common sense to open up a rulebook.
Oh wait...this is Billy Packer we're talking about. |

We're gonna have to start another "Packer-isms" thread.... That's just bad. |
Packer isn't always wrong. The screen in the Iowa/Wisconsin game looked legal. :D
|
I listened to the game on XM, and I only heard the last 3 min. I don't know who the commentators were, but one of them was going ballistic about the calls at the end of the game. He was complaining about calls, then about no-calls, it was almost humorous.

I just returned home from the State Finals. Anyways, I was watching this game in between sessions this weekend and I just started to laugh and thought what a joke this guy is.

A from a fan in Charlotte!
Gotta love those Tar Heels fans! :D

Nice. BTW...Billy Packer doesn't get paid for knowing the rules. In fact he doesn't get paid A LOT for knowing the rules. But I do think the NCAA should police the announcers better, there's really no reason for the yahoo announcers to make believe they know how to officiate the game better than the guys on the floor. |
The stupidest comment I heard today was on a fast break the player scored (I don't remember what game), and the announcer said: they are going to let that one go cause he already has one foul. Showed the replay, no where near a foul. I got a laugh out of this one!

Seriously, thanks for sharing that pic. It is now my favorite image of this year's NCAA tourney. |

AAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
May makes a beautiful block on Stinson's finger roll, Packer says, "He probably should have dunked that. Then he would have got the goaltending call." Stinson comes down, loses the dribble and regains it. Packer says, "That's not a travel because he didn't touch the ball while he was dribbling it." WHAT!?! IDIOT!!!!! |

My Prayer!
Dear God, please send Billy Packer to Chicago and not to Syracuse next weekend. Amen!

I may have to borrow that UNC fan's sign. :p |

That Willie Packer can stay South where he's understood. mick |

That's a great idea! Send him to Austin! :D He loves the Dookies anyway. Remember, it was your idea, mick. :p |

It would be AWESOME if you copied that UNC sign and held it up for the games in Syracuse. All of us on the forum should make a pact that we will hold up anti-Packer signs at any NCAA tournament games we attend. PS Tony, Why don't you pray that Packer doesn't get assigned any games at all in any Regional? |

I would try it but that might mean somebody drops a boulder on Packer's head. Then it would be my fault. :D |
Tony,
Your wish is granted. My nightmare is realized. Jim and Billy will be in Austin this weekend. As a side-note, I hope nobody here will mistake their seeming support for Duke and Kentucky on Friday night for real concern for either program. They're simply drooling over the possibility of getting Duke-Kentucky III. |
Quote:
No, wait. That would be like praying for God to grant Packer some actual rules knowledge. |
