Lsams,
You're right. Carthage is the Blueboys. Having formerly lived in Monmouth, though, you gotta like the Zippers! RR

Being a Cowboy fan, we call them the "Deadskins". I wish we played them 16 times a season. Can you say 13 of the last 14?
Being an Eagles fan, we refer to them frequently as the 4-skins.

I play in a rec ball league here in Japan. Alot of teams pick English names for themselves. We get a few funny names that maybe made sense in Japanese but sound strange after they translated them into English:

We've played the:
Penetrators
Hernian
and my personal favorite: Vague.
I am just waiting for someone from team vague to ask me what their team name means. "Oh that's tough to define. Your team name is kind of unclear"

DeKalb H.S. of Illinois is nicknamed "Barbs", as barbed wire was invented in DeKalb in 1873.

While many names in and of themselves may not be funny I find many names funny when proceeded by LADY. We have the LADY Rams, (shouldn't they be the Ewes?) We have the LADY Savages (Seems an oxymoron) The LADY Cowboys (Perhaps should be the Cowgirls), The LADY Steers (maybe should be the heifers) Here in Oklahoma we also have the Alva Goldbugs, The Haskell Haymakers, The Berryhill Maidens and best of all the Hooker Horny Toads
