I was wondering if their was any rule phrohibiting the use of signs to tell players which play to run. For example loud gym coach holds up a sign and the players run that play. Is this legal or would it be unsportsmanlike.

There was a team that played in the State Final Tournament and the coach used signs to call out their plays. I cannot remember the team, but it has been used at our highest level and it was made clear then that was very legal.

Peace

How would signs be any different that colored towels??

This was a HS test question last year, wasn't it? Perfectly legal.

[tongue in cheek] hopefully Coach didn't have the entire play drawn out on the sign as the opponent coald get the heads up on what the play is.

Just saw this last week, two games in a row, but it was the same team! ;)

Just saw this a couple of nights ago in a state semi-final up here in NH. The coach would hold up a colored sign to indicate the type of defense he wanted his team to play.
