Jurassic Referee has recently supassed the 6000 post milestone on this forum. It is a great testament not only to his longevity as an official but he also shows he has a desire to share his experiences and knowledge to make all of us better officials.

Jurassic and I have squared of on several issues about which we disagree and we get our digs in to each other but I respect him for what he says because he is always trying to present his argument from a "thus saith the rule book" standpoint. A mentality we all need.

He also has a wonderful sense of humor and I always enjoy reading his posts (even if his humor takes a dig at me and my profession). Gives us pause to reflect, and makes us laugh to brighten our lives every day.

Thanks for being on this forum...

I wonder how many of those 6000 could be labelled as "cranky" or "grumpy".... :D

JR's the man!

Quite a few of those 6000 have contained good advice that has helped me become a better official.

Thanks JR

Geeze, I get back in after running around all day, and I see this?

Is this where we get to join hands, sit around the campfire and sing Kumbaya? :D

Seriously, I appreciate the kind words, but I honestly have to say that I always have got much more out of this forum than I've ever contributed. There are literally dozens and dozens of people posting here from all over the world that have just a tremendous cumulative amount of officiating knowledge, and are more than willing to share it with everybody. Way too many to even start mentioning. I learn something new here all the time- ideas,thoughts,etc.,- and it helps to keep me up-to-date with the ever-evolving game. The perspective that you get from the keen and enthusiastic young guys just starting out like Ref18 is great too. Gotta admit that I'm forever stealing things off of this forum for my own use also. Case in point was a recent excellent powerpoint presentation on 3-man mechanics that came from the Hawai'i group. That sucker got e-mailed to all of my members, and it certainly wasn't the first thing that I stole off of here-by far.

The other great thing too about this forum is that we really do have a lot of fun with each other. That includes the guys we occasionally disagree with, as the Preacher said.

If you can't learn here, then you just ain't paying attention.

Now, if one of the mods would get rid of this thing, or shut it down........

absolutely true about the mountain of informaation this forum has provided...and to tell you the truth, the differing opinions here are great...i mean we are all here to become better officials, and in the process learn from our mistakes and from the perspectives of others...and, FYI, intimacy if often built through conflict resolution :)

Even veterans can learn ......

My two cents worth: this website is the best.

I've got 32 years experience and I teach basketball officiating year round.

I've learned that I don't know it all and that even crusty old veterans can learn and improve (rules and attitude).

Way to go JR and way to go officialforum .

Amen, Barry. When we stop learning, it's time to hang 'em up.
