I am a little foggy on the backcourt violation and i have had a few situations that have raised some questions. let's say B1 has just stolen the ball from A1 in A1's front court then B1 attempts to throw a pass and A1 tips that pass and A2 catches that pass in Team A's backcourt. Is that a violation. What consists of having control becuase I also had another situation where B1 tipped the ball away from A1 but A1 took one dribble in his frountcourt and then proceeded to the back court and i called a backcourt violation.

Team control is established once a player either holds or dribbles the ball. Team control continues until either the ball becomes dead or the other team establishes team control. A defensive tip does not end team control for the offense.

Your first sitch is not a violation, since B had established team control. A did not regain it until A2 collected the ball in the backcourt.

Sitch 2 looks like a violation, in that A never lost team control, and A1 was the last to touch in the FC and then the first to touch after the ball went to the BC. good call.

Agreed.

1) No violation
2) Violation
