Hi Guys is Me again Reyes
This is my first season in referring so I keep looking for stuff to keep improving.

I also coach one of the team in my town 7th and 8th grade girls team.

This pass weekend on my game. A1 the other team B1 my team.
A1 is driving along the OOB line going for a lay up, my girl B1 set herself up in defense position LGP A1 came and drive into her. That is what I saw from my coaching area and for me that was a PLAYER CONTROL FAULT. The ref called a block and I questioned the decision. So the ref come over and explain that B1 moved backward and that is why he called a block.
I did not see her move back (if she did maybe 1 little step).

NFHS book rule 10-6 note: the note said When a guard moves into the path of a dribbler and contact occurs. If the guard conforms to the following principles, which officials use in reaching a decision. The guard is assumed to have obtained LGP. and also by jumping into position both feet must return to the floor after the jump before he/she has obtained LGP. It is assumed the guard MAY SHIFT (I repeat MAY SHIFT) to maintain his/her position in the path of the dribbler, provided he/she does not charge into the dribbler nor otherwise cause contact, as outlined in 10-6-2.

This (MAY SHIFT) will also included the side to side moved in defense position? as long is LGP? right???? or wrong????

Anyone comments please.
Reyes

You were right, but there's not much you can do about it.
