About 13 years ago I remember the first game I ever worked-talk about the jitters!! My partner (who had taught me) tossed. The ball was tipped over to my left. Keep in mind this court had a LOT of lines, for almost every sport, all different colors going the same direction. Well, the girl secures the ball (girls freshman game) and I blow my whistle thinking she was out of bounds, but she wasn't. Oopsie! After I realized my goof I didn't make a signal or state the violation. My partner comes running over and says "travel, yep she traveled" After the first time out my partner came to me and said "that's the only time I bail you out and don't expect anyone else to. Your on your own now"
Just want to read any one elses first game experiences. If nothing else for a few laughs. Thanks in advance.

Good story stick. I remember my first game. It was 7/8th grade game. Obviously two games, no real big mess ups other than I had about 10,000 things go through my head. Anyways, when the game was over, I looked at my whistle and I chewed that crap out of that thing. Well, I retired that whistle and it hangs in my car. I still look at and laugh cause it shows how nervous I was.

My first game, which was at a camp, I had never been on court or anything. I blow for a foul on the drive to the basket(my first call for the game) TWEET!! Then I forget who the foul was on. After that, I made sure I knew it.

My first game. I was sitting in the dresing room after the game was over, I asked my partner "Who won?" I had alot of things on my mind, the score wasn't one of them. The best thing about your first game, you never have to go through that again.

My freshman year in college...1987. 7/8 boys. It was my partner's first one too. Nothing happened that was unusual that I remember. I do recall them giving me a check for $25 and I thought it was highway robbery on my part. How times change in that regard.

Same season for me, same year in college. Same thought -- I get $35 for a Jr High game? Wow! Girls' Jr. High played in the fall there and my first game was in the fall of 1987.

The thing I remember about that season is that it was the first one with the 3-point line. I was better positioned as a newbie to know and remember that I had to watch the feet on a shot to see if it was a 3 or 2. Lots of vet had problems with that for a while, if I remember correctly.
