A few questions about what people are wearing, regardless of level.
Pants - pleated/no pleats, belt loops/no belt loops, flex belt, any other possibilities Shirt - micromesh or polyester, those in IAABO - do you wear the patch? Shoes - patent leather or not Jacket - zipper/snap button, w or w/o IAABO logo The only thing I know we all have to wear that is the same is the black socks! Seriously though, any recommendations or preferences...Deciding myself what to order for next season...I currently wear the non-pleated looped bants w/belt, IAABO polyester shirt, regular converse 3/4 black sneakers... Thanks. Joe |
Pleated, NO belt loops, flex waist, and get one of those velcro belts that you wear under your pants to hold your shirt in
shirt- polycotton if you can find one, if not mesh...if you are going to work summer or camps, get a mesh for that. If you are going to wear a flag, make sure you put it on facing the right direction. undershirt and tights- underarmor shoes- go for comfort first, then style. Get a can of the spray shine to get the glossy look. Something polishable, not converse sneakers jacket- whatever your association or partner is wearing |
Sansabelt pleated, no belt. The only way to go.
Polyester. I don't like the micro-mesh they appear dull when compared to the poly. Nike dry-fit tee shirt, Reebok hydra-move tights, Underarmour knee high socks. I'll probably go all Underamour next season. The tights are great and I love the knee high socks. Adidas a3 leather shoes. Best shoes I've ever had, I'm glad I bought 4 pairs because I can't find them any more. I still have 2 pairs in the box. Snaps, no logo. Whatever you go with, make sure it has the elastic around the bottom, I can't stand the jackets that hang across your rear end. |
re: Official's Dress
Don't wear one. Stick to shirt and pants. |
Official's Dress...
When I saw this topic, I thought for sure you had worked a game with Padgett! :D Quote:
What decade are you officiating in? Do you have a big black collar on your shirt as well? :D [Edited by BktBallRef on Feb 19th, 2005 at 01:30 PM] |
ok, so wear the beltless pants...now, pleated or flat front?

I wear the Sans-Belt type beltless slacks from Honig's. |
just to make things crazy, what is the difference between the side pockets or the "western style" pockets that are upwards? also, any info on undergarments (underarmour or McDavid) or poly vs micromesh is appreciated.

I remember a game I filled in for three years ago where the guy I worked with had a hockey top (collar and long sleeves) on with sweat pants and white tennis shoes. If you all can believe it this was a boys varsity game. Where or who got this clown from I'll never know and not sure I want to. This forum won't allow me to type what I said to the AD after the game.

Anybody ever have a partner ref with a Yarmulke on? I had it happen not to long ago. I gave him a hard time by telling him that I didn't remember seeing it the book. He was pretty cool though so it was all good.

I use to wear navy blue coulottes in the old blue and white NAGWS days.

Do not wear Bike brand coaching pants.

it seems everyone is wearing beltless, so i am going to go that route...is there any reason for pleats vs. no pleats? can't think of any...also, anyone rate mcdavid versus underarmour? and where else aside from official's choice can i buy the IAABO shirt e/ patch? thanks.

wouldn't this be lovely
In FED, women basketball officials have the option of wearing a black coulotte skirt, long white knee-high socks, and white officiating shoes.
In my 25 years, I've only seen one woman wear that particular garb. It looked pretty silly. Hey Juulie, think we should try this? ;) Barb |
Anyone know who's got the best prices for the Sansabelt brand pleated pants?? I don't like the look of the Honig's pleated pants I have, and was looking to try the Sansabelts.

its a place called pro-ref.com...they have good pants |
In our association, we wear pleated, belt-less pants. I got mine from The Official's Choice when they had a 2 for 1 sale at the beginning of the season. Please be warned that their pants run tight and they do not taper much in the leg.
Everyone in my area wears Mesh. In our state, we wear CCA jackets, even for high school. This saves us from having to have two different jackets. I wear Patent Leather Converse. I love them. Unfortunately, I only bought one pair. This year I tried the Reebok Patent Leather. I did not like them. I wear black tights. I also wear a sleeveless black Starter shirt I bought at WalMart. |

Sansabelt pleated
Poly shirt (looks better coming out of the bag, imo) Nike dri-fit undershirt Patent leather shoes - and I like 'em a lot A couple of weeks ago I had a partner wear a shirt with a black floppy collar that zipped up the front. Half way through the game I noticed that he's unzipped it halfway down his chest, showing his white undershirt and gold chain he's wearing. Not to mention all his clothes were faded, like he hadn't bought a new uniform since 1990. (Then again, maybe he hasn't) And his glasses kept falling off. Ugh. That game was frustrating. |
Shirt: New officials choice Micro softer, or McDavid shirt, all depends how I feel.
Pants: I have 2 pairs, both Honigs brand, beltless, 1 pair pleated, one pair flat front. Jacket: My association has their own warm up jacket. Understuff: I have a pair of Bike compression shorts, a pair of Under Armour Compression shorts and Nike compression shorts. I alternate through them. I also wear the McDavid HDC undershirt. Shoes: Converse Patent leather, I'm in the process of buying a new pair of the officials choice brand. I like the patent leather look a lot. |

Actually, I never wore coulottes, but all of the other female officials, except one, always wore coulottes, therefore I always wore blue pants. The only time I didn't wear blue pants is when I officiated with the exception. She was a good looking graduate student who was the same age as me and she always wore shorts, and when I officiated with her, I wore shorts. MTD, Sr. |
