A4 makes the shot, the ball is in the air when 24 sec signal sounds then the ball lodges on the basket support.

1. Jump-ball situation
a. Team A gets the ball and have 0 sec.(We cannot reset the 24 sec clock in this case)
b. Team A gets the ball and have new 24 secs.

2. 24 sec violation
a. The 24 sec violation made before the ball lodges.
b. No one gained immediate and clear control of the ball.

Not sure why this is an important question, but in my experience with a shot clock, the shot went up prior to the shot clock expiring and ultimately hit rim, so no shot clock violation. The ball gets stuck, so you have a jump ball. Possession arrow says it's A's ball with a fresh 24 seconds on the shot clock.

Its importand because you cannot reset the 24 sec clock when you have a jump-ball situation. So you cannot give a new 24 secs to A team. And from the other the ball hits the rim so the 24 clock must be reset.

How is it a hole, the ball has to HIT the rim before it gets stuck doesn't it?

You have an action that resets the clock CAUSING a held ball.

That's why we are the officials - to make sense of situations like this. Use common sense. The shot hit the rim, then the ball got stuck. Reset the clock. It's not worth having a coronary over. It's just common sense.

I just checked the NCAA rule and the attached case play is almost word for word the origional post and it says, SHALL BE RESET.

Also what level other than the NBA has a 24 second shot clock, and they DON'T HAVE an arrow.;)
