Last Saturday, Juulie and I worked three 8th grade boys rec games together. Tim Taylor came over to watch and will probably be posting a surprise soon, so watch for it.

We had a lot of fun, since it's always fun working with Juulie. Our first game was really rough, but the last two were very mild.

In the first game, B1 made a clean steal from A1. Coach A yelled, "You gotta call that". I said OK and yelled "STEAL". He didn't get it.

There also was one time I blew the whistle right out of my mouth. It was pretty funny.

When we came out for the second half of the second game, one of the boys asked me "whose ball is it?" I looked down at the ball and said, "Some kid named Wilson".

Yeah - I got it. The size is fine. However, the "present" doesn't show up very well on me.

You're probably one of those insufferable people who are actually considerate of others. Just try thinking of the world as your playground. That's what I do.

One time I sent Mark an e-mail complaining about how a coach had treated me, and what a tough time I was having. He sent back this reply. "You are a sensitive, thoughtful person who is careful of the feelings of others, and wants everyone to feel better. I, on the other hand, am a crusty old SOB and don't give a rat's a$$ what anyone thinks of me. Try to be more like me."

It's nice when Mark shows his "sensitive" side. :D

I do that a few times, TWEET, and the whistle goes right out of my mouth. The other day at one of my games, I was stading next to the coach and he hollars " Hey Ref, going to call 3 seconds or wait untill 20?" I wanted so bad to tell him 20, but it not being a rec game, I kept my mouth shut. What he doesent understand is, for a pass or for a shot attempt, the count restarts.

Your 3 second count does not reset during or after a pass. It does however reset on a try.
