Has anyone every read anything or thought about the color of the jersey affecting the calls made in a game? Sometimes in games I notice that one team stands out much more than the other team. I start wondering if I see more of what they are doing because of the bright color jersey they are wearing. For example if one team is wearing bright green, yellow or red and the other team is wearing grey. I think the team wearing the bright colors really stand out. Also I've heard that the color red is supposed to be harder to see in your peripheral vision.

I guess that's why some officials say that the grey officiating jerseys are better because they don't stand out as much as the striped shirts.

Yes - I think the conclusion of that study was that teams with black or other dark uniforms get penalized more often.

If I can find the study, I'll post a link here.

Do you think it really is the color of the jersey?

Could it be a Home/Away factor (Dark color jerseys are usually away)?

I'd love to read that study. I can't believe that, using the scientific method, you could conclude a cause and effect relationship here based on jersey color.
