Last home game for seniors!

I had a coach get really upset with me this weekend!
Senior night for the boys! 4th Quarter games a 40 point game. Coach of winning team has pulled out his starters for almost the entire third quarter. With 3 minutes to go in the game Coach(Winning) puts back in all his seniors! Then next dead ball pulls them out, one at a time(so they could each get applause! Loosing coach(out of town)! Where I live teams have to fly in.
Coach goes bonkers on me, about how I could allow this type of substitution!(by the book it was wrong)!
My question!
When you are reffing a Senior night or what ever you call it! Do you allow for this tyoe of substitution? Or do you go by the book?
