BV tough game, not a good flow, dumb fouls from the start, pretty good partner whom I've probably had 10+ games with and 2 assignors are observing.

My tough call I heard about at halftime: I'm lead, A1 gets offensive rebound with 7 seconds left in the half, 2 passes and a shot, held ball and I hit the whistle. Look up and there's .01 on the clock. As the lead and having rebounding action, I lost track of the clock but knew it had to be close, held my whistle but then they started pulling and twisting and I felt I had to whistle to keep things safe.

Assignors said I should have held my whistle longer but I didn't know how much time was left and I still keep thinking that the timer could have bailed me out and let that last tick run off. Unfortunately, the AP went to B with no chance so it was a lost possession. I'd like to get input on this. Thanks.

Unlucky for Team B.

You felt that you had to have a whistle for safety. That is the #1 issue. Would it have been nice for the time to run out before or even after your whistle? Sure, but you can't control that. You did what needed to be done. Any assignor worth anything would tell you that.

Good job.

Clock awareness will come.
Thinking a timer woulda, coulda shoulda is a desperate wish.

With a one second lag, you may have blown the whistle at 1.1 and your assignors could have been blowing smoke.

I didn't get ripped or anything, and it was more of a comment then a lecture, but you know how it is when it comes from an Assignor and you want to impress. I guess my biggest concern is do you guys manage the clock in these situations or is it as Nevadaref said; unlucky for team B. ??

Yes to both. You manage the clock when you can, but sometimes the players (and the play) don't let you.

If that is the worst call you made all night, it sounds like a pretty good night to me.

Good call.

You were doing the game, not the assignors. You are the one that is being consistent. You are the one that makes a call based on safety. You did the right thing.

If the assignors want the half to end, they should talk to the timers. Even then, I think they have too might time on their hands.

That's my 2 cents.
