Throw-in.

Contact, foul.

My whistle.

I report.

Stupid fan yells, "Call it both ways!"

What did I call?

A double foul. :(

QuebecRef87 Tue Jan 25, 2005 09:23pm

LOL

I don't think you can literally call more "both ways"...

Ha Ha, I don't know what he was looking for...maybe you should have asked him! :D

A classic!

So would "both ways" on a double foul be something like this:

"Okay - both ways. Double foul - blue 14 and white 12, white 12 and blue 14."

Something close to this actually, about 3 weeks ago I was doing a JV/V game on Saturday morning. I call a double foul and report it. As we are getting ready to make the ball live again, the scorer sounds the horn and says what did you call? I said a double foul on white 32...(didn't let me finish), he goes: "Ok that's 5 on her then" <img src="http://www.illinoishighschoolsports.com/ubb/graemlins/pat.gif"> Ohhh boy, I said no no, white 32 and red 10, go to AP. Had a good laugh at the end of the game.

Yep, double fouls seem to be somewhat confusing to most scorers.

But at least they don't yell, "Call it both ways!"

Had a VG coach tell me this last night as I reported a double foul. I just looked at her and shook my head. This game was a actually a really good game - went to double O/T and came within a "cat's whisker" of being triple O/T. Guess if Padgett had been one of my partners, it would not have gone to the first O/T. :D

I have started giving teams "style points" at the end of close games.

I assume you mean she had 3 and he thought this meantshe was getting two fouls. Or did she have four fouls and I'm missing something?

2 minutes into the 2nd half and not 1 whistle yet, both teams are shooting jump shots and nothing happened to call. A1 gets a rebound and is trying to outlet pass when B1 grabs ger arm. I call the foul and the gym gets extra quiet, B1's coach yells out "come-on, let's even this up". she then looks up at the scoreboard and sees zero fouls to zero fouls (since I hadn't even had a chance to report to the table). she says "oh" and sits down.

Episcopal. They hosted Stone Ridge. This was ISL stuff. The interesting thing is the visiting coach was an alumnus of Stone Ridge and then she played 4 years at Ct. He** of a hs player.

Haven't seen you for a while. Busy season?
