I'm fairly certain that I've read this in the case book (or on the forum), but I need help locating the reference.

A1 ends his dribble. Then with the ball still firmly in his grasp, he touches it once or more than once to the court.

This action is not an illegal (double) dribble. Correct?

Had exact same question y'day after a Friday night game. Had to look it up:

SECTION 15 DRIBBLE
ART. 1 . . . A dribble is ball movement caused by a player in control who bats (intentionally strikes the ball with the hand(s)) or pushes the ball to the floor once or several times.
ART. 2 . . . During a dribble the ball may be batted into the air provided it is permitted to strike the floor before the ball is touched again with the hand(s).
ART. 3 . . . The dribble may be started by pushing, throwing or batting the ball to the floor.

ART. 4 . . . The dribble ends when:

a. The dribbler catches or causes the ball to come to rest in one or both hands.
b. The dribbler palms/carries the ball by allowing it to come to rest in one or both hands.
c. The dribbler simultaneously touches the ball with both hands.
d. An opponent bats (intentionally strikes the ball with the hand(s)) the ball.
e. The ball becomes dead.

NOTE 1: It is not possible for a player to travel during a dribble.

NOTE 2: A player is not dribbling while slapping the ball during a jump, when a pass rebounds from his/her hand, when he/she fumbles, or when he/she bats a rebound or pass away from other players who are attempting to get it. The player is not in control under these conditions.

NOTE 3: It is a dribble when a player stands still and bounces the ball. It is not a dribble when a player stands still and holds the ball and touches it to the floor once or more than once.

This is another one of these rules that the crowd and probably even the coach would go crazy on! :D
