Sorry for the elementary post, but I don't have a rule book and need a few quick answers:
(I run a small church league, we play by High School rules) Is a bench allowed to call timeout? If a ball is stuck between rim and backboard on shot, is it alternating possession, or does ball go to non-shooting team. We allow dunking, but how do you when someone "hanging on the rim" should be called a technical. In a recent game a kid went up, tried to dunk, didn't, but grasped the rim with his hand, rim seemed to flex down a bit (they are not breakaway) Ref called a technical, but they argued it, how to do decide if it is a t or not. Not really HS rules Q, but maybe someone would have an opinion on this. We play running clock except last 2 minutes of game. Lets say foul called, with Free throws awarded. Team calls timeout. Should clock start when ball is handed to shooter, and run during the free throws, or should we wait until shots are complete, and ball is back live to re-start clock. Also, just confirming, in HS ball the rebounders on a free throw must wait until ball hits rim? If ball misses rim on FT, and goes out of bounds without hitting anything, it is dead ball, ball goes to defense, correct? If ball misses rim on FT but hits backboard, is it dead, or do you just let them rebound it and play on? |
