What is the specific procedure when a pre-game technical foul is administered? My partner from the other night claimed that even though the technical was only on one team, there is still a jump-ball afterwards to begin the game, not possession to the team that just shot the free throws. I would like to get this correct should it ever occur again.

Partner is wrong. two shots, ball at division line, arrow is set toward the team that fouled.

Fed: See rainmaker's answer.

NCAA: Shoot the T, then resume at the POI -- the jump ball.

This happened last weekend in Tennessee-Vanderbilt game. One of UT's players dunked in pregame, and VU started with two shots. It was 1-0 at the jump ball...Vanderbilt led literally the entire game.
