I was watching a girls varsity game at the school where I teach last night. Team A had the arrow at the start of the 2nd quarter and was inbounding at half court. While the inbound pass was in air, player A2 jumped from front court, caught it in the air, and landed in the backcourt. The trail called over and back.
This triggered something I've read in the past - I don't think it should have been a backcourt violation, because there was no team control on the inbound, right?
I know that if a team has possession in the front court, a player jumping from backcourt to frontcourt and catching in mid-air - that would be considered backcourt.
And finally, there would have been no violation had player A2 caught the inbound pass while straddling the line, right?
Thanks again for your help.
