Developing story being reported out of Texas High School.

A story appeared in newspaper starting with a High School coach being demoted mid season back to JV because of forfeiting a game.

Appears that the coach’s team was way ahead early but other team was rapidly catching up. Less than a minuet left and as his team was holding slim (2 point?) lead. Intense situation.

Next the Referee called a PC charging on said coach's team giving opponent chance to close the game with a win.

Players and crowd erupts on the call. Technical’s ensue.

Coach calls his team over and at his direction team they walk off the floor. Coach reports he’s fearful of a riot from the reaction of the crowd to the call. He sys he feared for the saftey of himself and of his players. Emotions were so high, etc.

(I didn't hear who was home or visitor)

Referee’s follow procedure – call’s team back, no response report a 2-0 forfiet.

Coach gets a demotion. He blames referee’s.

Developing …….

Well, naturally. Who else could possibly be responsible?

do you know where in Texas did this happen?

It is always the officials' fault that a team lost, in fact I am being blamed for the ice and snow storm that is wiping out all of tonight's games in northern Ohio.

Well Mark, if you look at the schedule you'll see you *are* responsible for midwest weather in the first 2 weeks of January.

I thought we were supposed to blame Bill Clinton or the media.

Being Texas public school educated, that could have happened in any small town where all we had was the high sachool sports for entertainment. Unless you consider cow tipping a sport.

And *I* thought that it must be GWB's fault. Can't believe that they haven't blamed the tsunami on him yet.

They haven't blamed him for the actual wave, but some are trying to pin a lot of the deaths on him. :(

The names of the schools in question were Wilmer-Hutchins and Crandall ISD. The school that took the forfiet was Wilmer-Hutchins, (an all black school district) and Crandall (the home school which is an all white school). There was alot of pushing and racial slurrs being thrown around and quite a few technicals had already been called. Coach of WH felt it was safer to leave and get his players out unhurt during the mele'. Sorry, forgot that both schools are located around Dallas, one southeast and other southwest.

So when you say they "took" the forfeit, does that mean they forfeited, or that they won? Was WH home or visitor?

WH was visitors, and I should have said they accepted the forfeit by not coming back onto the court. Crandall was credited with a 2-0 win.
