What are the proper mechanics/procedures when calling a flagrant foul and then disqualifying a player?

Sell! Sell! Sell! Close fast and Sell some more.

There's no official signal for a flagrant foul. So report it as usual, use the word "flagrant" and "ejected", tell the coach (or have your partner do it), start the clock, notify the player, ...

This brings up a conversation we had at our meeting the other night.

I like to notify the coach, if I am the calling official, on a disqualification...then I start the clock...then have the player notified.

Officials Manual NFHS 2003-05 Pg.69 341. i.
"The Trail official shall notify the coach and then the player on a disqualification and will administer substitutions."

IMO...this creates undo confusion. The Trail official may not have been paying attention to who fouled whom...and the calling official has to communicate all this again to the "off official", then the off official goes to the coach (which may have a question about the call which the off official may not have an answer), etc.

This really isn't that big of a deal to me...but it could be a mark against you if you don't do it by the book at the state tournament.
