I've come to the obvious conclusion that the only redeaming quality of winter is that it happens to be basketball season.
I just had my 2nd night in a row of cancelled games. :( |
LOL!!!
Hear, hear!!!
Peace |
Currently it's 74 beautiful degrees with clear skies and sunshine! :)

Currently raining, has been since yesterday and it's suppose to do it all night tonight. Fun Fun

We rarely get snow here in Western Washington. They are predicting some for this weekend. Usually it's a false alarm so hopefully they'll be wrong again.
It had better not snow because I have a huge rivalry game Friday night with a packed house and two great partners. Z |

3 hurricanes, no tornados.
You take the good with the bad. 74 and sunny is pretty damn good! Washed and cleaned out my truck when I got home from work. :p |

I know just how you feel.
The first night of league play was called off tonight here. Two to three feet of snow depending upon exactly where you are. Schools were closed Monday and Tuesday. We'll see about make-ups. |

I'm not a big fan of the stuff. :) |
In my neck of the woods (Atlantic Canada), I usually lose a few games to snow storms etc.... This year, I actually gained a game. Two weeks ago, a snow storm cancelled school (I teach) but not a local tournament. A ref who was scheduled to come in from out of town cancelled because of the bad roads and I ended up doing that game.
This year has been relatively light in terms of precipitation, but the forecasted low for tonight is -20 Celsius. That converts to -4 Fahrenheit. Got to go start a fire. |

74* and sunny???????
I would do anything for 74* and sunny as I have all ready had a bad start to my new year. I had a game on Sunday that was 5 1/2 hours away. I saw that there was a huge ice storm there so I took off the day before and it took me almost 10 hours to get there. I Stayed the night and took my time getting back home. Then on Tuesday I had a game almost 3 hours away and it took me 5 to get there going through a blizzard. When I walked in the door the athletic director told me that he had booked a room for me at a local hotel and said that there was no way that he was going to let me go back home that night. I stayed the night and drove back home on Wed..... only to find out my game on Wed night had been cancled.
So Give Me 74* and sunny any day!!!!! |
Okay, where I live it has been -4 degrees fahrenheit for the last two weeks, with snow every other day or so. Today, we got a break and it warmed up - to 19. But tomorrow it's supposed to get back down to -13.
Stop, I repeat, stop your bellyaching :p |
The weather officially sucks here in IL. I am pulling my second all nighter in a row to make sure our basement doesn't get out of hand!

NE Texas, Tuesday night I drank 4 bottles of water during my game. It was 76 deg and very humid. Today is different. We had a low of 32 last night.
One redeaming feature about cancelled games. Especially when you get into conference play is that the games have to be made up. When I lived in Colorado, I had a final weekend of the season where I called Thursday night, Friday night, and three different gyms of Saturday. Morning, aftenoon and night. My mentor was calling the varsity at the final gym. He tried to give me his game. I told him I was worn out and I would watch him. |

well, all morning it's been snowing/ flurrying/ then snowing/ flurrying here in the STL. I bet if I went out right now and scrapped ALL the snow off my car I could make 1 snowball. I don't think we'll be canceling anything soon.
Signed, Grateful in STL! |
No baskestball here,.... no light, no power, no water and no heat either... and did I mention the fact that we have no water because it's well/septic so that means no showers and pouring buckets of water down the potty to flush? Phone lines out too.
Very rustic and my house. 24 inches of snow last week, then ice storm. Yesterday, 4 inches of snow, rain, freeze, snow, watching Cavs game... 9 minutes left...explosion heard round the world and lights have been out ever since (transformer substation blew up). Not expected to go back on until 9:03 pm tomorrow. Yes, 9:03 pm, that's what the they told us. I came to work so I could read this forum. Left hubby and kid in dark to tend fire, kill dinner and cook over open spit. Life is good. I might even buy them a few candles for tomorrow when I leave. Oh and talking about basketball and unsporting behavior. I actually attended a girls 7th grade game where the host home team actually booed the visiting teams point guard every time she touched the ball. The parents chanted unkind sentiments at this girl because she scored 6 points in like the first 2 minutes. Then the kids and parents joined into a mutual booing session for the remaninder of the quarter. When I inquired about the fan behavior, the school administrator looked at me like I was crazy and shrugged his shoulders. His only answer was "kids will be kids and if the refs don't like it they will stop it". Now I thought the fans and building were under the school administration control and management. Learn something new every day. Coach G |
Six inches of snow overnight and now it's freezing rain. Game cancelled tonight. Wasn't going to be a real good one, anyway. Only reason I was looking forward to it is that I was supposed to work with a buddy that I don't work with very often.
