I had a situation were my partner called, the ball out of play when shooter A shoot from the corner and hit rim then went up and hit the top of the backboard, is this correct or not?? I thought they changed this rule a couple of years ago.

The rule has not changed. The top of a backboard is not out of bounds. The ball is out of bounds if it passes OVER the rectangular backboard. The only "side" of a rectangular backboard that is out of bounds is the back of it.

The ball is not out as long as it doesn't hit any support structures. A lot of places have bars running accross the back so be aware.

here's another one of those "the other refs didn't call it like that yesterday".

I'm lead so I really don't see it except I know the ball bounced up and stayed up for a while. Finally comes down and Green had already relaxed, white grabs rebound and scores. Green capt approaches me respectfully and states that it hit the top of backboard. I explained it was in and he says that it was OOB yesterday. I just shrugged and said I didn't see the play yesterday and so long as it doesn't touch bracketing, it's still in.

If they don't hear a whistle, they should keep playing.

I know that, you know that and so does everyone else on this site, but, well, you know those kids these days.
