What do you do when a player goes down injured as the other team is going the other way on a fast break with an obvious advantage and a high likelyhood to score. You see no blood or obvious broken bones on the injured player. I would think you wait until a dead ball or the injured player's team gets possession. Is there a place in the rule book that tells you what to do, or does this fall under the "official's discression" category??

Rule 5-8-2d Note: "When a player is injured as in Art.2(a), the official may suspend play after the ball is dead or is in control of the injured player's team.... When necessary ..., the official may immediately suspend play."

I will stop play if the opponent pulls up where as they are not forcing play with an attempt to go to the basket.

Mick forgot the part about "or when the opponents complete a play. A play is completed when a team loses control (including throwing for goal) or withholds the ball from play by ceasing to attemtp to score or advance the ball to a scoring position."

Normally, we will have the trail official stop and stand near the player. This let's everyone know that we are aware the player is down and will not the player to be put in the position of getting hurt again.

Wrongo. I was hoping to give enough, and yet encourage that fine read, the NFHS Rule Book.
