Anyone know what he said to the official that got him fined?

wasn't being discourteous by who's standards? some of these guys are such smart arses that they don't even know when they're doing it. it's another example of a coach calling the refs out in the public. what if the news gave ample airtime to refs so they can point out coaches/players inequities? i bet 99% of refs would be professional and "no comment".

Just another coach who's too stupid to realize that you can't go after an official, just because the game is over.

I actually had a coach this year who thought this as well. The funny thing was, was that her husband was an official so she knew better! Make a long story short, she ended up with 2 T's.

Being from Michigan, I am a huge Pistons and Larry Brown fan.
However, if Brown stepped over that verbal line, which apparently he did based on what I saw on ESPN, he deserved the fine handed out by the NBA.
However, in defense of Larry Brown, I do agree with him having a beef with an official that will not communicate with him during a game.
Now, I know that some officials believe in the old "do not talk to coaches" frame of officiating, but there does come some point in time during games that we work as officials that we have to have dialogue with coaches.
I know that not communicating with coaches before during games has gotten me in trouble, because it sends the wrong message across to the coach that I am ignoring him, and have zero care in the world about their feelings.
So, I do think as officials even at the NBA level, coaches and officials need to have dialogue with each other. Mind you not a lot chit chat back and forth, but there does need be communication between coaches and officials.

John,

I am going to assume that the officials did not talk to Larry because he was saying some rather far out things to him. The official probably decided that talking to him was going to do nothing. Sometimes when we talk the situation gets worse. Sometime the best thing to do is just shut up. We are also hearing one side of the story as well. The official might have talked to him but decided but did not do so to Larry's liking.

Peace

From seeing the replay of the situation, his actions were probably more detrimental then his verbage.
