Hi everyone-

Just a situation I thought of over the weekend, and not sure what the call would be...
The ball is live and Team A has possession in its frontcourt. A1, at the wing, attempts a lob pass for an alley-oop to A2 (running from the opposite corner to the basket).
A2 jumps for the ball, but misses, and the ball sails OOB, hitting the wall. A2 then lands and falls on B2 who had LGP.

I know this couldn't be a player control foul as A2 did not have the ball...would it just be a "charging" or "pushing" foul on A2?

Does the timing of the ball hitting the wall OOB BEFORE the contact have any relevance? Does it matter, as both happened almost at the same time?

Thanks,
Joe

If A2's contact with B2 occured before the ball became dead, then the foul is a common foul. It does not matter whether A2's foul is called a charging foul or a pushing foul, the signal at the Scorer's Table will be the same.

If A2's contact with B2 occured after the ball became dead, then the contact is ignored unless it is intentional or flagrant.
