As soon as I put up the stop sign I expect the coach to sit down and shut up, but if he says another word, it's time to whack him. Your partner should take another look at his views on handling coaches.

Last year I did just that. Coach whining about a call, I let her go. A minute later we have a violation in front of her bench. She starts again as I am moving over to adminster the throw-in. I give her the stop sign and say "That's enough coach." As soon as the ball is inbounded, she starts again. Whack! I guess she didn't believe me the first time. I like the stop sign because it signals to everyone that the coach has been warned.
