Double Dribble?

Good 8th gr. boys game. Close game in a small gym. Anyway... A1 picks up his dribble in the F C. While being guarded he loses his balance & to regain it, he touches the floor with the ball while both hands are firmly holding the ball. I thought I read this somewhere but I can't seem to locate it. I told the "winning" coach on the way by that it was not a DD. He said it used to be but I just kept on going down to the other end. Tell me I was correct. I am now back into the books looking. Thanks in advance for your replies..
