when would you blow the ball dead? thrower has his foot on the line prior to catching the ball and then shoots the ball and never has his foot behind the line. do you blow the ball dead as soon as he catches it? or wait until he releases the ball for the throw?

Wait until he/she releases the ball.

Why wait? It's a violation as soon as the foot crosses the line; or as soon as he catches it with his foot across the line.

I believe it's if he/she crosses the line after the ball is released.
