Which states currently use a shot clock?

I am aware of: CA for both boys and girls, MD for girls only, WA girls only, but need a complete list.

Thanks.

There is a local tournament that is pushing to use a shot clock. One of our state office officials has solicited my opinion.

MA, both girls' and boys' games. 30 seconds.

Lotto Wed Dec 08, 2004 12:12pm

NY: boys 35, girls 30.

North Dakota uses it for Class A boys, 35 and girls, 30. Class B doesn't use a clock.

Save yourself from a lot of headaches and don't use a shot clock in your tournament (especially if you don't have expericence table crew to run it).

Mark,
I know that you are in DC, but where is this League located?

My association covers girls games in the northern VA region for the Independent School League (private schools). They use a 30-second shot clock. I'm not sure if they boys do or not.

Had a JVG/VG doubleheader Tuesday night. The visiting school was from a league that does not use the shot clock and it really showed. In the VG game, the visitors were down 18-1 at the end of the first quarter. They were primarily a passing team and had numerous shot clock violations (time expired). The visiting coach asked me what the deal was with the violations (at that time I did not know their league didn't use shot clock) and I had to quickly explain to him what caused it. To their credit, they made a heck of an adjustment and only lost 38-34.

In New York City, CHSAA has a 35 second shot clock for AA, its highest level, but not for other levels. PSAL has 30-second shot clock for girls only.

No one is buried in Grant's Tomb. It's a tomb, not a cemetary. Grant and Mrs. Grant are entombed in Grant's Tomb.

Thanks for the input Jim. Anything you can find wrong with this one:

What color is George Washington's white horse?

I guess that ain't Blueskin that you're talking about, is it?

Now, wanna bet whether GW actually had a horse named "Blueskin" or not? No fair Googling first.

Geeze, I'm sorry, I had meant to ask "What color is George Washington's white horse" but I must have accidentally typed "What was the name of George Washington's horse".

My apologies. (Anyways, I think he also had one named Nelson. And no, I didn't google it, there's no way I'm going to ask google to tell me about "blueskin". )

Since you asked...I suspect that any of George Washington's horses are dead by now, so I would think they would all be whatever color a two-hundred-year old corpse takes on.

Hey Jim, you're good at this. Here's your next assignment:

Does a chicken have lips?
Is the Pope Catholic?
Does a bear sh!t in the woods?

Kind of a lot here, I'm sure you're up to the challenge.

Which state? Or are you saying that there is a multistate HS league up there?

It's actually NEPSAC - New England Preparatory School Athletic Council. And, yes, it is multi-state - many of the private prep schools in the region compete with each other rather than competing with the other local schools (the local athletics politics being worthy, in many cases, of posts rivaling the length of MTD,Sr.'s. :p)
