Tonight I called a foul in the 2nd minute of the game. A31 got hit pretty hard and went down. It's a big floor but small end areas. I followed the shooter to make sure he wasn't hurt. I didn't "bird dog" the fouler and while I was watching A31 go down the fouling player ran away from the spot. My mind went totally blank. Could not remember his number. He had dark hair. I look. 3 B players had dark hair. Asked my partner. He couldn't remember, either. Finally, I just picked a kid and reported the foul. At the next dead ball I remembered who actually fouled him. I hate it when this happens. Been there?

If you are sure you remembered who the person was that really committed the foul, then you could change the scorebook to correct the situation. MTD, Sr.

Here's what I do. I make it a fraction. Red 45 fouls white 10. 45 over 10 (45/10). That way I've got my shooter if I need one. I also usually point until I know that my partner has who it was called on.
