I waited long enough, any comments on the "Orange Crush" on Wednesday night? I'm working GJV game, and every 3-4 minutes the table announces the Illinois - Wake Forest score, Illinois by 10; the Illinois by 15; then Illinois by 20; at a TO I just had to go to table and check if that was an accurate score...helper at table got on cell phone and checked, sure enough....

Glad I got that game on tape...

Well, to put in on officiating terms, Welmer, Hillary and Hightower were on the game, and it was one of the best officiated games I've ever seen.

Welmer deserves a final four assignment.

A little premature, don't you think?

Anything can happen in 4 months...why the guy could develop heart problems caused by splurging on fondue fergawdsake.

(Apologies to you and Mr Welmer, but this does make sense to someone out there. :) )

What is it?

I am a LSU fan and one of the talk shows the other day was talking about one of the bowl games a few years back that LSU and Illinois played in and they were wondering what an Illini was. Is that some kind of an animal?

kenref1 Fri Dec 03, 2004 04:07pm

It is short for "Illiniwek" who was the Native American tribe that used to live here in Central Illinois.

Redhouse Fri Dec 03, 2004 04:08pm

So is the mascot dressed as a native american. I can not remember what the mascot looks like

kenref1 Fri Dec 03, 2004 04:10pm

That is correct.

Okay, I was going to keep my mouth shut!

For the sixth consecutive year, the ACC won the Commissioner's Cup, the trophy which the winner of the Big 10/ACC Challenge receives.

For the second consecutive year, the ACC blewout the Little 10 7-2. Complete domination!'

The message has been furnished to you by the Atlantic Coast Conference. :D

kenref1 Fri Dec 03, 2004 04:19pm

All I know is Illinois beat the best ACC team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good one!

I agree with FredFan 7 about the officiating crew for the Illinois/Wake Forest game. You could not have asked for a more experienced crew to be assigned to this game.

Plus, the way the whole game was officiated from start to finish was outstanding. Yes, it is early to start naming Final Four officials, but this crew is off to a AWESOME start in the right direction.

kenref1 Fri Dec 03, 2004 04:42pm

I agree. I was proud to be an official after watching those three work. The knew what teams they had and let them play.

tharbert Fri Dec 03, 2004 05:06pm

All I know is that the Illini stole our coach! Bruce Weber took SIU to the NCAA postseason two years running and got us into the sweet 16 one out of those two times. He's an up-and-comer! Then Purdue steals Matt Painter from us. I hope these schools haven't gone to our well too many times!

kenref1 Fri Dec 03, 2004 05:07pm

Bruce Weber is a much better coach that Illinois old coach Bill Selfish!

It won't be the fondue that causes heart problems....

There is that phrase again....

Curious, if a crew doesn't know what teams they have would they not let them play?

Stole your coach? What, did they kidnap him? Did they get him by blackmailing him?

;)

Lah me, you don't think that I'm a Kentucky fan, do you? Not too freaking likely!

I am a firm fan of any team that starts a game as at least a 15 point underdog. Love those upsets. Of course there are certain teams that I never want to see win. Duke heads up that list, closely followed by Cincinnati and any team that John Calipari coaches. Duke is #1 because of that whining, moaning, referee-baiting crybaby that coaches them. :D

Damn, now I gotta go back to having my wife start my car in the morning. :D

One Sunday morning George burst into the living room and said, "Dad! Mom! I have some great news for you! I am getting married to the most beautiful girl in town. She lives a block away and her name is Susan. After dinner, George's dad took him aside, "Son, I have to talk with you." "Look at your mother, George. She and I have been married 30 years, she's a wonderful wife and mother, but, she has never offered much excitement in the bedroom, so I used to fool around with women a lot. Susan is actually your half sister, and I'm afraid you can't marry her."

George was broken-hearted. After eight months he eventually started dating girls again. A year later he came home and very proudly announced, "Dianne said yes! We're getting married in June." Again his father insisted on another private conversation and broke the sad news. "Dianne is your half sister too, George. I'm awfully sorry about this." George was livid!

He finally decided to go to his mother with the news his father had shared. "Dad has done so much harm. I guess I'm never going to get married," he complained. "Every time I fall in love, dad tells me the girl is my half sister." "Hehehe," his mother chuckled, shaking her head, "don't pay any attention to what he says. He's not really your father."
