A1 is dealt a technical foul (unsporting) in the first quarter. In the middle of the third quarter, A1 (same player) receives a technical foul (chin up) off a dunk.

Questions:

1. Is the second technical foul labled as "indirect."
2. Is the player (A1) ejected?
3. Does A1 need to sit out the next game?

Both are charged directly to the player, and he is ejected.

Whether he needs to sit out the game depends on your local rules, but many areas have suspensions for being ejected from a game.

1-The T is a Direct..."hanging or pulling himself up on the rim is also a unsporting act

2-Yes he shall now be ejected ( he has recieved 2 T's )

3- I beleive that this rule is diff. from state to state.

I've never seen this, so I don't know how I would handle it, so let me ask everyone this, if a kid does a chinup after dunk is that an 'easy' T?

Errr... "Direct", "indirect" fouls?? Help me out with these terms plz!

FED: "Direct" T's are charged directly to the person committing the infraction. If that person is "bench personnel", then the head coach is "indirectly" caharged with a T. That indirect T doesn't count toward the team totals, but if the head coach earn a combined total of 3 Ts (or 2 direct Ts), the coach is ejected.

NCAA: Direct T's are (generally) for unsporting conduct. Indirect T's are (generally) for everything else.

Players receive direct technical fouls. They are allowed two per game and when received they count toward the limit of 5 personal fouls. When a player received 5 personal fouls or 2 direct technical fouls, that player is disqualified.

A head coach can receive a direct technical foul for his/her antics, or can receive an indirect technical foul for the antics of bench personnel (assistant coaches, substitute players, waterboy, etc.) When the coach receives 2 directs or any combination of indirects and directs that add up to 3, then the head coach is disqualified.
