High School Basketball in the Midwest:
A1 is dealt a technical foul (unsporting) in the first quarter. In the middle of the third quarter, A1 (same player) receives a technical foul (chin up) off a dunk. Questions: 1. Is the second technical foul labled as "indirect." 2. Is the player (A1) ejected? 3. Does A1 need to sit out the next game? |

Whether he needs to sit out the game depends on your local rules, but many areas have suspensions for being ejected from a game. |

I've never seen this, so I don't know how I would handle it, so let me ask everyone this, if a kid does a chinup after dunk is that an 'easy' T?

NCAA: Direct T's are (generally) for unsporting conduct. Indirect T's are (generally) for everything else. |
Players receive direct technical fouls. They are allowed two per game and when received they count toward the limit of 5 personal fouls. When a player received 5 personal fouls or 2 direct technical fouls, that player is disqualified.
A head coach can receive a direct technical foul for his/her antics, or can receive an indirect technical foul for the antics of bench personnel (assistant coaches, substitute players, waterboy, etc.) When the coach receives 2 directs or any combination of indirects and directs that add up to 3, then the head coach is disqualified. |
Thanks a lot to both of you for the answers!
