When Dave and I did our three rec league games together this weekend, we had a female coach for one of the games. She was fine, and only complained on one travel call. Dave gave her "the stare" and she didn't say anything the rest of the game. After the game, one of our rec league board members came up to me (I also am on the board) and asked me if there were any problems with that coach. I said no and asked why I was asked about it. The board member told me that she had been assigned to "watch" that coach, because the previous two weeks she had given the refs an incredibly bad time. In fact, the board member had a written list of complaints she was checking on to see if the coach was going to do the same things again.

I called Dave over and asked him if he thought the coach acted OK. He agreed. The board member said to him that it must be his "demeanor" that kept the coach in line.

Dave replied, "Yep, that's me. I'm de meaner ref and Mark's de nicer ref."

This guy is in Seattle, right? I've booked a flight on WestJet for next week. Can I get an assignment with him next week?

Once again, thanks for the laugh. Alot!

Great to goat

I was lucky enough to officiate the same hs, two games in a row. On tuesday when they won in overtime, I was on his tournament list and on friday when they lost by 20, I was
"terrible". Over course I told him" That's why I do your games" to which he smiled and sat down.

Hey Mark, some find Dave's tales de-sgusting. I think
they are de-lightful, I'm hoping you don't de-cide
to stop posting them on the de-scussion boards.

Good grief!! How dare you mistake Portland for Seattle. The two cities are so dissimilar, I don't know how anyone could mix them up. ;)

Sorry. My memory isn't what it used to be. I knew it was the Northwestern US. Oregon and Washington are attached, right?

No. Actually we are separated by the Columbia River and a sales tax. They have one, we don't.

True. We are separated by the Columbia River, an occasional volcanic plume and a STATE TAX. They (Orgeon) have one, We (Washington) don't. :)

Do you want to compare the price of buying licence plates? As Billy Crystal said in that movie, "Don't get me started." :)
