Unhappy

Good monring to you all...

Just a little venting about the situation that happened in Auburn Hills on Firday night. The whole situation was a disgrace to the NBA, the Pacers, and the the Pistons. The NBA is going to ban Atrest for the entire season, and Jackson and O'Neal for 30 & 25 games respectfully, which was done by the commish, to "Send a Message", the Detroit fans should be suspended for a minimum of 5 games. That's right they should have to play the next 5 games with out any fans in the stands. That would also send message to the fans that they too crossed the line of what is acceptable behavior. What the fans did at that game was totally uncalled for. The fans landed a lot more punches and some of them got what they deserved (the 2 guys that got decked when they were on the floor.)

Just the opinions of a non Pacer fan from Indiana.

While I agree with you that those involved need to be punished, you can't punish an entire city for what a few did. If that were the case, you should not be able to drive your car for a whole week because someone in your neighborhood got a speeding ticket.

This is actually an accepted punishment in European soccer. Mind you, instead of throwing cups onto the field, they throw other fans, but more than one professional game has been played behind closed doors because clubs couldn't maintain security.

That's not going to happen, nor should it. Why penalize the other 20,000 fans at the game or the thousands who will attend the enxt 5 games because of the actions of a few dozen drunks.

Action will be taken by the Pistons to deter such things from happening again. But it's ludicrous to expect games to be played without fans in attendance. And it ain't gonna happen.

by allowing fans to consume alcohol during a game you will get unruly behavior. It should be expected by game management and players. 99% of the American workforce would be fired if they are caught fighting at work. The players are at work. Any player who fights with another player or fan should be fired. Pure and simple.

It just happened in Europe this year for a soccer game. I agree that it should not happen for a 5 game stretch. I could at least see it happen the next time these two teams play. I probably will not happen, but it probably should.

Fortunately, everything was captured on videotape, so the fans who misbehaved can be identified and punished. Why would you punish the team or any innocent fans. Look at the video -- the arena was almost empty. Unfortunately, there were a few sociopaths that stuck around. Except for the cup thrower, the rest did nothing until after Artest and Jackson went wild in the stands.
