In working a series of girls playoff games Sunday, I made a charge call that was a clear charge. Offensive player A1 dribbling, defensive player B1 in LEGAL GAURDING POSITION. A1 lowers her shoulder and plows into B1's chest. As the trail, I make the call. My partner, who should not have been watching the play, sells me on the call to a coach waiting on the next game. My partner then approaches me and tells me that I made a bad call, and the coach confirmed it was a 'bad' call. I tried to explain to my partner what a charge is vs. a block, but he cut me off and said "It was a bad call." I was tempted to walk off the court at that point and have my partner and the coach work the remainder of the games on the schedule, but my professionalism kicked in and and I finished the day. How would you respond?

I wouldn't work with him again.

I would have said, "Interesting, care to tell me why?"

Then I'd say, "Care to tell me how you'd know that since you were watching YOUR primary, and not mine?"

Then I'd get the rule book and officials manual out of my bag and give it to him with, "Perhaps these will help." :D

Thanks, all. The funniest part was when he asked me if I was doing any of the championship games. When I replied 'Yes', he got upset and stated that he wasn't scheduled to work any. No surprise, huh?!?!

I would have said, "You're right. I should have called it flagrant and thrown that little twerp out of here." But...that's just me.

Had a similar sitch

Well kinda similar. Working out of town with local officals in a tournament. Had a few player control fouls in the first half. During halftime, my co asks me about all of these offensive fouls. They just don't call them that way. So I asked if she was watching the offense or defense. She replied, "I'm watching both!" I knew that there was not a lot more I could add to the discussion at that point, so I just politley said, I would try to be consistant.

Tit for tate.

I would have waited for him to make a call and tell him, "that was a bad call." Then proceed to never work with this clown ever again.

Peace
