Air Ball

I think I know the answer to this, but would like to clarify to be extra sure.

A1 shoots the ball from under the basket. The ball goes up vertically from A1 (no arch) and lands back into A1's hands without touching anything (player, ring or backboard). Is this traveling?

Similarly, if A1 shoots from behind the 3-point arc and upon release, realizes that it is short, runs to get the rebound, and gets it but the ball did not touch anything. Traveling?
