what is everyone's preference? i found some nice nike shoes last year that i really liked, but they didn't polish up to my liking... i have bought some reebok "the refs" for this year that are patent leather..they are really comfortable, but really shiny... some say too shiny!
|
Here we go with the patent leather shoe vs. the natural leather shoe debate again. "who wants to wear a plastic shoe?" "plastic doesn't breath!", "they shine better than any natural leather shoe.", "they are much more low maint.", "I would rather spend my time doing other things than shining shoes.", "no more money spent on shoe polish".
Ok, now that we got that out of the way... can someone tell me whether or not I should wear beltless pants or a pants with a belt! :D Sorry, Jritchie, honest question on your part and being new to the board you probably don't know that these topics have been discussed ad nauseum (sp?) and I couldn't resist! |
no apology necessary
i was just asking....but as for pants...beltless and definitely pleated...i didn't think pleated would be better, but now that i have worn them, i will never wear anything else...so much more comfortable and a lot more room..it's like your not even wearing any!! :)

No wonder the coaches keep staring at you guys. |
Actually, I was kind of wondering the same thing. I'm thinking about buying some patent leather shoes but I was wondering if 1) they look too flashy, and 2) if your partner doesn't have patent leather, does it look weird?

A "T" for doing nothing? I don't think so. |
I have had patent leather shoe and will not wear them anymore. Your feet sweat and stink.
|
Just spit shine your leathers and they'll look like the plastic ones and you won't sweat as much.
A few more posts and I'll catch up to the Jurassic one! |
Dudly,
Jurassic post just to hear himself. He has over 4,000 post. His computer is never off, even in the off season. Jurassic, just poking fun at you |

I have had the patent leather shoes for about 4 years now. I was one of the first people in my area to have them. People said they did not like them and that they did not look professional. Now it is hard to find many officials that do not have them now. I quickly everyone turns. Most of the time no one even realizes that the shoes are patent leather to begin with. I get asked by the fans, how did you get those shoes so shinny?" Peace |
I will not ever buy patent leather officiating shoes. I just do not like the look.
When I evaluate a basketball official I will never down grade him for wearin patent leather shoes, in fact I will never even bring up the subject. But what I do want to see are shoes that are well maintained. The shoes need to be clean and shined. A spit shine is not necessary; there are plenty of liquid and paste waxes on the market that will do the trick. I do not want to see shoes that look like the official was wearing them while he just got done plowing the north 40 and he used a team of mules and a walk behind plow to do it. MTD, Sr. |
Leather Luster
Put this product on your shoes and they will look just like patent leather. I put one coat on at the beginning of each year and it holds up the entire season. Stuff is remarkable!
|
leather luster is pretty good stuff i agree, but it's a little aggrevating putting the stuff on and making it look exactly right...sending them off to the company "leather luster" is a better option if you don't care to pay the $50 bucks or whatever it is now...It is a great product though..
