had this happen, player A takes a long 3 point attempt or any shot for that matter, the shot is such a brick it bounces back into back court before anyone else touches it, team A finally rebounds the ball, Violation or not? i feel that if the defense is not going to rebound the ball and team A can get to it, they shouldn't be penalized, just can't find nothing like that in the rule book, a coach did argue with me that it should be a violation....

Not a violation.
Once the shot is attempted, there is no longer team control of the ball. Thus, team A does not have control of the ball when it goes backcourt, meaning either team can touch the basketball first without violating. |

and the ball may sit in the backcourt until time runs out; there is no backcourt count until team control is regained.
Now the question is, what if the refs shoes weren't shiney or they were wearing a belt? ![]()

another hokey pokey reference
With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment,
It is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went un-noticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote \"The Hokey Pokey\", died peacefully at age 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. Then the trouble started..... come on ya know you wanna laugh at it..... ![]() |
