I worked at a 3-on-3 tournament today. My court was on the top of a parking structure. About 10 minutes in, a kid reaches to intercept a pass, but he just tipped the ball up. It went sailing up and out of bounds -- and over the edge! Hit a car down below, set off the alarm, and went bouncing off down the ramp. We stopped the game for a minute, and then decided to finish with the women's ball. Security was dispatched to bring the wanderer home.

Juulie - imagine if you were playing under the original rules as written by Dr. Naismith - the first team to recover the ball after it goes OOB gets to inbound it! You'd probably have to play this tournament with parachutes and trampolines. Cool!

One of the schools I do games for, has games played in an old gym from the 50's or so where the fans and game crew sit 8 feet above court level. At least once last season, we had a player deflect a pass with a trajectory that put the ball right into the stands.

Now, wait - I don't see any note in the NFHS rule book saying that this change was ever made. Per WWMTDSD?, does this mean that's still the OOB rule?
