In the summer league that I work, we are paid by the home coach. Most pay by check, a few by cash. When they pay by check, nearly all of them write the check with the Payee blank and let you fill that in yourself. One, that I know of, uses a "duplicate style checkbook" and like to have the name in there.

When I refer to cash games, I mean any game where the coach/administrator pays me at the site of the game. Usually only exhibition games are worked like this. For all other games, the association sends the league and invoice and the pays each member accordingly.

They made me pay to get into the gym geese.

If they're going to try to get me to pay to get into the gym to ref, they're not going to have a ref.

Brandan, find another league. You don't need that one.

Well, this has got to stop now.

I didnt pay tonight. But i called my first "T". 2nd quater and I go to call a block and coach from white (highschool student) decides he wants to throw the chair across the floor. Bam "T" 10 secs left of the game partner calls T on him again for 6 players on court.

--------------------------------------

I started the game by my slef and the other ref comes in when there is 1:30 left to the first quater. I get paid 12.00 and he gets paid 12.00..something is not right..

Yea, especially if they're only paying $12. That's way past appalling.

Brandan, two points:
1. when the coach throws a chair, call the T a flagrant and get rid of him right then
2. the T for 6 players is a TEAM technical foul and is NOT charged to the head coach.

Hawks Coach,
Cash payment is far more common than you think, even in your area. When I officiated in the DC/MD area we would have a handful of cash games each summer at different tournaments. The games were still assigned through our commissioner, but he would tell us that it was a cash game and to make sure we got paid on-site.
BTW, the biggest summer tournament in the country, the BigTime in Las Vegas, also pays in cash. I am going next week.

Not criticizing your decision, but in my games, any Bobby Knight wannabe is going to get himself ejected.
