Had an ugly one last night.
Minute to go, blowout, kid comes down after a shot, lands on an ankle and snaps his. Second time in my life, and if I don't have to see it a third time I will truly be lucky. |
I'm glad it wasn't me, I might puked.
Seriously - I have a short stomach for that sort of thing. ..Mike |
I didn't hear it this time, thank goodness.
Last time it sounded like a branch breaking, I have never heard a gym get so quiet. Situations like this are like fights, it doesn't happen very often and you need to keep your wits and dead ball officiating going strong. |
Re: Rough Night
When the gym quiets down like that it's an eerie thing.
Last week, During a pressing situation, A1 jumps to receive a pass, B1 cuts him. I blow the whistle, 10ft from the action, A1 lands flat on his back with the loudest thud I've ever heard. I immediately call the coach out, dead quite in the gym and A1 yells out "I can't feel my legs." I got the worst feeling in the pit of my stomach. The coach told him to stay calm and don't try to move. Luckily, after about 10 mins, the EMS came in and they asked him how he was, A1 moved his legs and actually walked off the floor under his own power. It turns out he landed in a way that would resemble a "stinger" in football. Very scary. |
